About us
At Orson + Bodil, we are driven to create exceptional products that seamlessly bridge the worlds of high-end design and sustainable craftsmanship. Our journey began in the beginning of the 1990’s, when master artisan and fashion designer Alexander van Slobbe teamed up with Guus Beumer, a cultural visionary and connector. Together, they formed a creative partnership rooted in the belief that clothes could be seductive and made responsibly, blending material innovation with the artistry of traditional handcraft.
In those early days, we had the ambition to integrate sustainable materials into our collections, however the pace and contradictory demands of the industry often posed challenges, which we did not know how to overcome. Today, with Bruin for Orson + Bodil, we have evolved to a place where we can fully embrace sustainability and be totally transparant about our efforts without compromising on an idea of luxury or of design itself. Every piece we produce takes the environment into account while also celebrating the whole process of design and making.
Our collections are crafted with meticulous care, using natural, locally sourced materials that tell the story of both innovation and heritage. A signature element of our work is the yarn we developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Knits—a unique blend of unrefined wool from the blue Texel sheep and the fibres of the Dutch Alpaca, offering a mix of sturdiness and softness. This durable material not only elevates the quality and comfort of our pieces but also makes use of wool, a natural resource that would often simply go to waste, in Western-Europe while now it helps to minimize our environmental impact.
At Orson + Bodil, we believe design including fashion products should transcend boundaries. Our designs are explicitly gender-neutral, reflecting a modern, inclusive approach that breaks away from traditional norms. We are committed to creating timeless clothes that celebrate sustainability, transparency and craftsmanship.
Every piece we make is a testament to our core belief: that clothes can be both luxurious and innovative, while durable at the same time, with a positive impact on both people and the planet. Welcome to Bruin for Orson + Bodil.
